Conas atá tú? That’s Irish for how are you?
Ireland is such an interesting country and we, the 51 students of the third form and three teachers had the chance to spend an interesting English-Language-Week from 20 to 27 March there. This week completely broadened our minds because we had the chance to improve our English, learn a few Irish phrases and get to know the Irish culture. We stayed at nice host families in Shankill, a suburb of the capital Dublin, which is located near the sea.
In the mornings we went to Dublin’s School of English and in the afternoon we visited many different sights like the old Malahide Castle, Dublin Castle or the famous Trinity College. At the weekend we made a relaxing cliff walk along the beautiful coast or a stunning trip to Belfast where we learnt about Northern Irish history and also visited the Titanic Museum. We also found time to go bowling or see the greyhounds race.
The fast changing weather didn’t spoil our moods, and in our free time we shopped and chilled out with friends on the beach.
We left Ireland feeling melancholic because our host families treated us like family and generally the people were very open-minded. We will always remember this amazing trip to Dublin and we’ll never forget these fantastic experiences.
